Dating back to 1864, this spectacular former vicarage provides a unique and unforgettable stay for a family get-together or a celebration amidst the pretty Lake District countryside.
Nestled at the edge of the Lake District, The Old Vicarage is sure to impress from the moment you arrive. This historic property has links to the 4th Barron of Muncaster and was designed by the famous architect William White. The attention to detail is immaculately displayed through opulent interiors and designs, while the retained features brim with character and charm. You will have access to a host of luxurious amenities including a games room, a cinema room and a sunken hot tub in the private garden, while the multiple living spaces provide the perfect setting to socialise and entertain.
We stayed at The Old Vicarage to celebrate my dads 50th birthday with family and we had the most amazing time creating memories that we will cherish forever. The Old Vicarage was spectacular and the hosts worked around the clock and went over and above in seeing to our needs and making our stay special. The Old Vicarage is decorated tastefully and is furnished to a great standard; including cinema, games room, huge hot tub, state of the art coffee machines and tech, outdoor seating and kitchen area, children’s park and beautiful scenery. A 2 minute walk leads you to Irton Church which is also breath taking! The hosts have thought of everything by including everything you need for children (plastic cutlery/plates, high chairs, travel cots etc.). We would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!
Don't know where I can start! Phil was accommodating and super friendly. He did show us around and gave us a brief history of this lovely house on arrival. He was approachable to ask any question, the house was like something out of this world, built with high tech and very luxurious furniture, everything you can think of was already there, it is designed to spend quality time with your friends and family, my family united after a long time in this lovely cottage, and we enjoyed every single minute, from the Piano to Karaoke, to classic games in the arcade to the cinema. The list never ends; we will definitely come back to repeat this amazing experience.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Old Vicarage. The owner Phil met us on arrival and was friendly, informative and easy to contact throughout our stay. The house itself is completely beautiful, the interior is decorated beautifully and all of the added extras such as the cinema room were enjoyed by all. The grounds are lovely, well maintained and spacious. The children really enjoyed the outside play area and the hot tub and outdoor kitchen were beautifully appointed. We would totally recommend this property and as a family we would love to return in the future!
Couldn’t fault the house! Phil, the owner, has everything covered and there’s nothing you could want for that isn’t provided…lovely play area/garden, great bbq and hot tub area and the actual house and rooms are gorgeous! We ranged from a 4 month old to adults and didn’t want to leave!
We were overwhelmed by how beautiful The Old Vicarage was! The owners were extra helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We came as a family of 11 for a 60th birthday celebration, ages from 3-60 and the property catered perfectly for all of us. My personal favourite was the cinema room and the open plan kitchen which was our main social place in the house. Just perfect, pictures do not do this place justice! Will remember this trip forever, thank you!
The old vicarage was absolutely fabulous even better in real life, everything was top quality, the most beautiful furniture throughout the house made our stay luxurious. The cinema and games room is a wow factor. The bedrooms and bathrooms are tastefully decorated the whole house inside and the grounds are immaculate, I could go on and on about this place! I will definitely go again. The owner Phil is so helpful and approachable, thanks for a wonderful stay
A beautiful house and so spacious to share with our large family. The kitchen and living spaces were perfect for entertaining and being together. Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment. There were plenty of things to do in the house for all the family- cinema, karaoke, hot tub….but the local area also had so much to offer and we spent all our days out walking in the beautiful surroundings of beach, mountains and lakes. Phil was very helpful at checking and even took charge of our Tesco delivery when our arrival time was delayed! It was a perfect Easter break!
Located in the peaceful Lake District countryside with rolling hills at every turn and plenty of outdoor adventures to be had, you will never be short of a scenic walking route from the doorstep. For a hearty lunch or a tipple or two, the closest pub is The Bridge Inn, while the nearest restaurant is located at Irton Hall, just 4 minutes away by car or you can take the footpath over the fields, which is 1 mile away.
The nearest lake is Wastwater which is surrounded by idyllic landscapes and located at the foot of Scafell Pike. As a renowned place for climbing, many venture to Wastwater and the Wasdale Valley to scale Scafell Pike, however, those not ready to embark on the ascent to the summit of England’s tallest mountain can enjoy a scenic stroll or a picnic by the shore.
